Life is going to bring you plenty of challenges. The attitude you have and the choices you make are going to be a deciding factor. Prepare yourself. Ask yourself if you’ve cultivated the proper skills, awareness and tools to deal with the challenges when they come your way.
Enjoy the metaphor in today’s Message From the Road.
It’s January 1, of any year! Christmas is over, all holidays are behind you and your sitting by yourself with a cup of your favorite morning coffee or tea. You have in front of you a beautiful, new, hard bound journal and you’re inspired to finally change your life!
YOU ARE COMMITTED! RIGHT?
You separate your life into key areas, and then you start defining exactly how your life is going to be different in the next twelve months and you’re starting TODAY! Right?
Fast forward six months, it’s July. What has change? For most of us, nothing!
Because Goal-setting does not work! OK, I said it and it’s proven time and time again. Goal-setting is an incomplete process.
You set your goals and soon you find yourself frustrated.
Do you want to know the reason? OK, I’ll tell you.
You have not attached enough emotional capital as to WHY you need to ACT on the goals you set. You’re not emotionally connected to what your life can actually look like if you not only decided, but actually take action to bring them to life.
To make significant change, we need to attach a FEELINGof the dream-fulfilled. You must be able to SEE the change as if it has already occurred. You must SEE and FEEL yourself living the life you have imagined and envision it daily!
So you must not only envision the successful achievement of the life you want, but you also MUST ACT dailyto create the habits to support your vision and feelings!
Now here’s the BIG question!
When are you going to stop procrastinating and start living the life God gave you the talents to achieve?
I love the joke, “Do you know how to make God laugh?” Answer: “Tell him your goals.” Why would that make God laugh, because He knows you are not going to ACT on them! How does he know? Because your life has been one failed New Year Resolution after another.
I’m suggesting we make a quote from Sir Richard Branson our new mantra for the remainder of your life, “Screw it, let’s do it!”
Create a strong, compelling vision for the years you have left, create an inspiring action plan, develop the daily habit of consistent, persistent action, see yourself living that life, and don’t make God laugh, but make him proud that you actually LIVED the life He gave you!
“Where there is no vision, the people will perish.”
A vision is a precise, clearly defined goal with a detailed action plan and a timetable for achieving that goal .
Don’t wait for your ship to come in. Either swim out to it or build your own ship. To save yourself you must have the mindset of Noah!
Don’t be a goal-setter, become a Goal-Getter!
Consider this: If you are serious about using your talents, and committed to changing your life, what actions are you going to take today to begin your life transformation?
Leave us a response in the comment section, we are excited to hear about your new life.

Yep, I finally decided I needed to do it! I had procrastinated for so long, denying the facts, not listening to my family and friends, but the pain and suffering had become more than I or my family could stand.
I delayed several times, not feeling ready to commit or admit that it was definitely time to change. So this is a straight forward discussion and I bare my soul about just some of the lessons I’m learning in rehab.
Gotcha! See what I’m talking about in this weeks discussion.
A little over a month ago, I finally decided to have my right hip replaced….
These are some of the lessons I’ve learned in the past 30 days!
1. Don’t Procrastinate: This seems to one of the great human conditions that prevents most of us from living the life that we truly desire. What happen is we suffer the pains of mediocrity and regret instead of the joy of success because we settle for average.
I procrastinated in getting my hip replacement surgery for years, making a number of excuses and so my quality of life suffered. If only I had acted on what I knew I had to do earlier. Wow what a difference it has been with no pain!
Be willing to push through your procrastination and do what you know needs to be done. Many times we miss the opportunity to live a better life today, putting off the action that will propel you to excellence.
2. Find a Team of Experts: In my search for the right surgeon I wanted to make sure that I had the best possible in order to get the best results possible and have the active lifestyle that is important to me.
How often though do we seek out advice from someone who has not had the kind of success we are looking for. Be willing to invest in coaching from someone who can truly guide you to create the lifestyle you want.
You wouldn’t want your salesman brother performing a hip replacement surgery would you? Be sure who you choose to coach you has a proven system or a team that can enhance your success.
3. Can’t do it Alone: I found out very quickly how many people it takes to do a successful hip replacement. If I stopped to count all the team members, from pre-surgery to getting home, there were probably 50 people involved in my successful rehab. But when I got home my team was my wife (she’s a saint), my son, my family and friends.
To achieve success in any aspect of your life, you will need a team of qualified individuals who can guide and support your efforts. So make a list of your inner circle and your team and evaluate each person to see if they are qualified to help you achieve the greatness you are pursuing.
4. Less is More: You can only work a muscle so hard before you run the risk of setback, injury or slower progress. Rest is paramount to the success of recovery. Today’s society prides itself on how many hours we can work, how little vacation we take and when we are on vacation, we’re actually working anyway.
If you don’t take appropriate time to recover, your body will force you to take downtime and often it’s through illness.
5. Be willing to work: To get better in any aspect of your life you are going to have to work friggin hard! Rehab is not easy, whether it’s a hip, a relationship or your finances. You are going to need to focus and say NO to many things that probably got you into trouble in the first place. So the secret question is: “What do I need to say NO to, to make room for what I need to say YES to?”
6. Don’t cheat yourself: Change is painful! Rehabing my hip has been downright awful and painful at times. But if I stopped when it hurt, I would never reach the full potential of recovery. You must recognize that the price of progress is the pain of change. Be willing to get uncomfortable. Life begins at the end of the comfort zone.
So what part of your life needs to go through rehabilitation? What one or two areas, if you truly focused on change, would produce massive results, fulfillment and satisfaction? Love to hear in the comments how I can help you achieve your lifestyle goals.
