Message From The Road

Pacific Coast Highway: Part Two

Life is going to bring you plenty of challenges. The attitude you have and the choices you make are going to be a deciding factor. Prepare yourself. Ask yourself if you’ve cultivated the proper skills, awareness and tools to deal with the challenges when they come your way.

Enjoy the metaphor in today’s Message From the Road.

This Message Should Be Shared!

On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood.  Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared. It was that of a young lieutenant, the plane’s bombardier, who was struggling to a life raft and pulling himself aboard.

So began one of the most extraordinary odysseys of the Second World.

Why You Need to Hit Reset!

I’m back and excited about The Message From the Road!  Most of you know I’ve been off  getting a brand new hip and now after 2 months of rehab, I’m heading out to start my training again.

What’s happening in your life right now? Are you on track to achieve all your dreams? Maybe now’s the time to hit the RESET button and make a direction change! Half of 2014 is now behind you, how are you doing?

In this message you’re going to have the chance to watch my video and I’ll be expanding on the video in the text portion with some helpful hints on how to make this your most spectacular year. I also look forward to any comments and questions you may have, so don’t be shy.

Be sure you read this section below!

The balance of 2014 is going to be an amazing year! It’s now time to review, revisit and reset whatever your objectives were 6 months ago. Let’s get with it and make the rest of the year the best of the year!

How are you going to do that? By getting a real grip on your dreams, goals and visions. By putting in the action instead of just wishing, hoping, dreaming and praying (sounds like a song)!

You know what to do, just hit RESET and override the FEAR! Recognize that you are a genius with God-given talents that NO ONE else possesses or ever will posses. You are unique!

Just own your dreams and realize that if you RESET your action plan nothing is impossible. In fact just say, “I’m possible and so are my dreams. All the experience, or youth that I possess serve me in my quest for abundance.”

So here’s the questions to ponder: What aspect of your 2014 plan needs to be reset? What have you done exceedingly well this year? What can you improve upon to make this the best year of your life?

Now don’t be shy, let us know in the comment section what changes you’re going to make or what’s been working for you. Commenting is important to the tribe, so we can all benefit. My focus has been on hitting reset on my health and regaining the physical and emotional energy required to live at peak performance.

So leave a comment and share the blog with your family, friends and business associates. Encourage them to join our community so they don’t miss any of the words of wisdom! It’s FREE.

6 Characteristics of a Healthy Leader! Message From the Road #91

” The man who wants to lead the orchestra must turn his back on the crowd”

Develop an awareness around these 6 characteristics and watch your life and leadership grow beyond your imagination!

Below is a detailed transcript of this weeks message

Hi everybody,  it’s Greg Drolet with today Message From the Road and as you can see it is another gorgeous day. As I was riding today I got to thinking about leaders and  the characteristics of a leader.

The word itself gives us the foundation to explore: A real LEADER does the following:

Laughs: What’s he laughing at? Certainly not his team. No, a real leader doesn’t take himself too seriously. He leads without the need of a title and he has learned to laugh at himself. Laugh at the situations he’s put himself and his team in.  A leader is transparent and has learned to laugh when things don’t go quite the way he expected. He understands that both he and his team are human and mistakes are going to happen.

Encourages: A leader encourages his team, knowing that like him they are not perfect. Stuff is going to happen at times.

Ken Blanchard, talks about the importance of “catching your people doing something right.”

Encourage them, let them know what a spectacular job they did. If they didn’t do it quite right, encourage them and help them learn from the experience by asking “what can you learn from this experience?”

Acts: Real leaders are action driven. They don’t procrastinate. When they know there’s a job to get done they do it, and develop a team of people that also take action. That’s part of a real leader’s job, developing their people.

Determination: Napoleon Hill called it a burning desire! They’ve got a purpose, they’re fueled by their passion and they live their entire life this way. They don’t sit around. They know what needs to be done and do it! They live life purposefully.

Energizes: Real leaders bring an energy to the table, to their team, and their family. They apply the energy to all areas of their life, not just business. The first person we need to lead and energize is ourselves.

Responsible: As John Maxwell likes to point out, a leader needs to be response-able. They respond to situations as they arise and take appropriate action. They also hold themselves responsible for the results they and the team create.

So until next time, keep on growing, keep on learning and keep on leading! Everyone can learn to lead, start with YOU!

Why We Need to Share The Road! Message From the Road #90

Below is a full detailed script of this weeks Message From the Road

What a spectacular day! As I was out riding this morning, up hills, down hills, and riding the flats, I encountered a lot of people on the road with me.  Some of them were running, some of them were walking, some of them are out cycling just like me. And the one thing that popped into my brain, was that I was sharing the road with all these different people from all walks of life, doing all kinds of different exercises and everybody was just out having fun.

That’s the thing about life, we have to share the road with people. We’re on this journey and it’s all going to end in the same place, right? So why not enjoy it and recognize that everybody is at a different place on that journey.

We’re all at a different place on that road. So as we’re sharing the road with them, it’s important that we recognize that everybody’s not like us.

Boy, what a boring world it would be if everyone was like me! No, it’s the uniqueness of everybody that makes life so spectacular.

I happen to be blessed with a wife, Christie, who I just love!  She is different from me, but in many ways similar. We have a great time because we recognize our differences as well as our similarities. We recognize our strengths and we recognize where we are weak.

Areas that I’m strong in, she may not be. Areas that I’m weak in, she’s definitely a lot stronger. That’s really a key aspects of life, recognizing that we have to share the road with other people and recognizing the unique talents that everybody has.

I love the quote that says, “The one who has the most information or knowledge, has the greatest responsibility.”

That’s something I remind myself of all the time. As someone who promotes being a resource for healthy leadership, we have to lead ourselves first, and I look at myself to see if I’m being congruent in my talk and action.

I also want to thank you because by doing this video blog and getting your comments, you are helping me become a better, stronger, healthy leader. I hope I can be a resource for your growth as well.

That’s been the point of doing all these crazy little videos. They’re fun, and hopefully beneficial. Life is too short not to have fun, right? Let’s share the road with people. Let’s encourage them to enjoy life and give them a boost if they’re down and out.

So until next time, this is Greg Drolet saying, “Keep on learning, keep on growing and keep on leading!”

Why We Need You to Join! Message From the Road #89

It’s time to join the REVOLUTION! Watch this weeks Message From the Road and come join me. Your life will never be the same!

What revolution am I talking about? I’m talking about a health revolution. The whole point of this blog is to encourage adventures in healthy leadership. When I talk about healthy leadership I’m not just talking about getting healthy physically.  When we talk about being healthy we have to look at our entire life.

When I look at leaders I look to see how they’re doing in all aspects of their life. Are they congruent with what they’re saying  and what they’re doing? I believe it’s very important that we analyze the different areas of our lives and ask, “How can I get better? How can I become the best version of myself in every area of life?” Why not utilize all the gifts and talents that God has given us so that we can pay Him back for this magnificent life that we’ve been given?

So as we go through the rest of this week and year, I’d like you to come join me. Just make the decision today, get committed to becoming healthier. Become the best version of you! What would your finances look like? What would your spiritual life look like? What about physically, emotionally, mentally, all your relationships? What would your life look like if you were living at peak performance and living a life of abundance?

The recurring theme is gratitude, abundance and becoming the best version of ourselves. That’s what it means to get healthy and I want to challenge you to come join me on this amazing quest! Let’s do it together! Teamwork makes the dream work! Nobody has ever accomplished anything really great by themselves.

So when you’re looking at how you’re going to become the best version of yourself, ask yourself, “Who’s my coach?” In all the different areas of your life, do you have coaches? Sometimes these coaches come in the form of books, audios or seminars until we have the opportunity to actually meet these people and be able to invest.  We definitely should be investing in ourselves by what we read, listen to, and who we associate with.

Let’s make the choice that we’re going to get healthy. That we’re going to become real healthy leaders, not faux leaders but true healthy leaders. We all know that the first person we have to learn to lead is ourselves, Right? That’s why I get out on the road and work at becoming the best version of me physically. It helps me mentally, emotionally and gives me the energy that I need in order to do what I want to accomplish in life.

So, until next time, keep on growing, keep on learning and keep on leading! Make the decision to become a healthy leader!

Be a river not a reservoir! If you like these videos and blog and the message has been helpful to you, feel free to pass it along to the people you value in your life. It’s all free to join and we have an amazing and growing community of healthy leaders! My goal is add value and be a resource for you.

JOIN THE REVOLUTION! IT’S FUN TO GET HEALTHY!

Question: What action, if you do it today, will start you on your journey? Let me know in the comments below.

Your LEGS Are Vital: Message From the Road #88

How important are your LEGS? That was my thought as I was riding today. I’ve been riding hard the past couple of days and so my legs are a bit tired and sore. The pain brought awareness to my body and I started to think of my legs in a different manner. Watch today’s Message From the Road as I explain my thoughts!

How important are your LEGS? No, I’m not talking about the legs I’m peddling my bike with, but something far more important.  The LEGS I’m talking about is the acronym LEGS. I’m reading a book by Allen R. Hunt, Life’s Greatest Memories and he asks his readers to consider LEGS in this manner.

L=Love all you canIn the Bible it mentions, Faith, Hope and Love, and the greatest of these is LOVE. Why not look at our every day life and all the people we come in contact with, and just exude love to all. Remember, we get back what we are becoming so why not be love. We get so wrapped up in our everyday life that we often forget the importance of love and how to treat people.

E=Earn all you can: Money is not the most important thing in the world (love is) but next to air it has a fairly significant impact, right? Most people around the world are struggling due to a lack of money and economic stability. So what action do we need to take to change our circumstances and begin to earn more? If you need guidance, give me a call and I will be happy to coach you.

G=Give all you can: We get back what we put out into the world and we can give with our heart, with a smile, a kind word, or a compliment. It doesn’t have to be with money alone. We can give of ourselves with our time, our energy, and give our love and in return love and abundance will flow to us.

S=Save all you can: We are an over consuming society and we let our emotional wants get in the way of living the kind of life that we really want because we’re not saving enough. There’s a classic book, The Richest Man in Babylon, by George S. Clason and in it he talks about the importance of tithing and paying yourself first, then paying your bills. If you don’t you will never have money in the challenging times.

So get the LEGS that will help you live a life of abundance, live a life of LOVE, have the things in life you want and have the kind of success you desire.

So my friends keep on learning, keep on growing and keep on leading!

Consider this exercise: Look at your life and what can you do starting now, to make your LEGS more attractive?
